Kate Middleton makes rare comment about Prince Louis

Kate Middleton, a lifelong tennis enthusiast, made a much-anticipated appearance at the Wimbledon finals last weekend, drawing cheers and emotional applause from the crowd. Standing beside Princess Charlotte and Prince George, the Princess of Wales appeared deeply moved by the warm reception she received, especially in light of her recent cancer battle. The outing marked not just a royal tradition, but a symbolic return to public life amid her ongoing recovery.

While Prince Louis didn’t attend this year, Kate made sure he wasn’t forgotten, with a lighthearted remark that underscored both her maternal warmth and her attention to fairness among her children. As the family met men’s champion Jannik Sinner after the match, Kate noted that they had brought a signed tennis ball home for Louis, saying, “We brought one for their brother as well.” Prince William added with a chuckle, “Louis would be very upset otherwise.”

Though still too young for his Wimbledon debut, the seven-year-old remains on his mother’s mind. Just days earlier, during a royal visit to Windsor Castle, Kate made a playful comparison between her youngest son and a historical figure, quipping that Louis bore a resemblance to King Louis XIV of France, whose childhood portrait was on display.

These affectionate mentions of Prince Louis revealed Kate’s ever-present role as a mother, even as she navigates the public demands of royal life. And Wimbledon was a clear reminder of the enduring place tennis holds in the Princess’s heart. Known for her early skill in the sport, Kate has passed on her passion to her children, especially Charlotte and George, both of whom are now learning the game.

Despite being in remission, Kate’s recent public appearances have sparked both praise and concern. Social media lit up after Wimbledon, with many expressing joy at seeing her again, noting her grace and elegance. Others, however, voiced worries about her noticeably slender frame. Comments ranged from admiration for her strength to concern for her health, with some observing how thin she looked and speculating on the toll her illness may still be taking.

Kate has been candid about the emotional complexity of her cancer journey. During a June visit to Colchester Hospital, she spoke openly about the unexpected challenges that come after treatment ends.

“You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment,”

she shared.

“Treatment’s done, then it’s like, ‘I can crack on, get back to normal,’ but actually, the phase afterwards is really, really difficult.”

The Princess explained that post-treatment life requires navigating a “new normal,” one that can feel isolating and disorienting.

“You’re not necessarily under the clinical team any longer, but you’re not able to function normally at home as you perhaps once used to… it’s a rollercoaster, it’s not smooth, like you expect it to be,”

she reflected.
Throughout her recovery, Kate has remained deeply engaged with cancer patients, often visiting hospitals and sharing her experience in hopes of offering comfort to others. Her efforts have been widely applauded, not just for their emotional resonance, but for her honesty about the long, non-linear road to healing.

As Kate slowly reclaims parts of her royal life, moments like Wimbledon serve as both personal victories and public milestones. Surrounded by her children and embraced by the crowd, the Princess of Wales showed resilience and poise — qualities that many believe will serve her well when the time comes for her to take on the role of Queen.
