Lucy, a 13-year-old blind pianist, plays the piano in public and leaves everyone in awe.

Viewers have been captivated by a stunning 13-year-old pianist’s captivating performance of Chopin’s Nocturne in B flat minor at Leeds Train Station on Channel 4’s The Piano. The autistic and blind Lucy played the difficult piece with such ease that it stunned both Mika and Lang Lang.

In the show, amateur pianists from all throughout the UK perform pianos in public spaces in train stations. The pianists don’t know that Mika and Lang Lang are surreptitiously observing them to choose who moves on to the next round.

Lucy’s instructor and family describe how she developed a love for music when she was a little child suffering from eye cancer. Lucy’s mother Candice said that during medical treatments, Lucy sobbed and shouted. Candice had faith in the doctors and nurses, who were pleased with Lucy’s modest keyboard skills.

Daniel Bath, her teacher, got interested through his work with The Amber Trust, which aids blind musicians. Lucy learned from Bath to feel which notes were played with whose fingers by laying her hands over his. He claimed to have never encountered someone with Lucy’s level of musical expertise.
