The Mountain’s wife answers question everyone keeps asking

The Mountain — Hafþór “Thor” Björnsson — is known everywhere for his size, his strength, and his unforgettable role on Game of Thrones. But lately, it’s not his record-breaking lifts or his battles on screen that have people talking. It’s the woman who stands beside him… and the one question everyone keeps asking about the pair.

Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson is an Icelandic strongman and actor, towering at 6’9″ and weighing over 400 pounds. With a chest over 60 inches wide and arms that look closer to carved stone pillars than human limbs, describing his physique always feels like an understatement. He officially became the World’s Strongest Man in 2018, adding the crown to an already legendary career.

His rise to worldwide fame took an unexpected turn in 2014, when the third-most decorated strongman in history decided to try something new: acting. When the casting team from Game of Thrones reached out while filming in Iceland, he genuinely thought it was a prank.

“I thought it was some kind of joke. I had no acting experience,” he admitted. “I was just a big dude competing in Strongman.”

But everything changed when he stepped into the role of Ser Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane in Season 4. From there, Björnsson’s world expanded. He appeared at the Philadelphia Renaissance Faire as King Thor, joined Mike Tyson in the action movie Pharaoh’s War, and even shared the screen with A-listers in The Northman.

Yet while his professional life brought him global attention, his personal life has been far more turbulent. Several ex-girlfriends accused him of domestic violence over the years, including Thelma Björk Steimann, the mother of his daughter. She claimed she feared for her life during a vacation. After a lengthy investigation, Icelandic authorities found no evidence supporting the allegations, and Hafþór has consistently denied harming any woman. The ordeal did, however, result in him being restricted from seeing his daughter for several years. Today, that relationship has improved, and he regularly visits her in Denmark.

His life shifted again in 2017, when he met a young Canadian woman in Alberta — a meeting that began with a simple fan photo. Kelsey Morgan Henson, a fitness enthusiast and waitress at the time, approached The Mountain for a picture during an event, and something between them clicked instantly.

The height difference alone was enough to make them an internet sensation. Hafþór at 6’9″, Kelsey at just 5’2″. She barely reached his shoulders, yet the pair had undeniable chemistry. What started as a surprising visual contrast grew into something steady and deeply genuine.

By August 2018, they were married. Hafþór posted their wedding photo with a message full of excitement:

“I get to hold this beautiful woman through thick and thin for the rest of our lives. I’m so excited for all the adventures we will tackle side by side.”

Their son, Stormur Magni, was born in 2020. But joy was followed by heartbreak in November 2023, when Kelsey and Hafþór shared that they had lost their baby daughter, Grace Morgan, at 21 weeks. Their raw, emotional message detailed the devastation of discovering her heart had stopped and the bittersweet moments they spent holding her tiny body. Despite their grief, their love for her was clear: “The grief will be with us forever, but so will the love,” they wrote.

Through it all, the couple’s bond has remained strong. Fans adore their lighthearted videos, family moments, and glimpses into their life that show how comfortable and grounded they are together. And still, one question never stops coming up — the one everyone is curious about but too amused not to ask:

How does a 6’9″ giant kiss a 5’2″ woman?

During an Instagram Q&A, someone finally put the question into words. “Do you jump into his arms every time and wrap your legs around his waist? Please post a picture of this impressive action!”

Kelsey responded exactly the way fans hoped she would — with humor and honesty.
“Ah, he bends, I tiptoe. Or just say screw it, pick me up!”

That simple answer captured everything people love about them: the playfulness, the affection, and the obvious comfort they share despite the physical mismatch.

Together, Thor and Kelsey show that love really doesn’t care about inches, differences, or expectations. And now that the internet knows their kissing strategy, it’s safe to say fans are only more charmed — and even more eager to keep following the unlikely couple who turned a height contrast into a love story worth watching.
