Major update on Nancy Guthrie kidnapping suspect – clear family

Nancy Guthrie Disappearance: Family Cleared as Search Intensifies

The search for 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie continues, nearly weeks after she was last seen on January 31 near her home outside Tucson, Arizona. As concern grows nationwide, authorities have now addressed widespread speculation surrounding her family.

Nancy, the mother of Savannah Guthrie, was reportedly dropped off at her residence that afternoon. Since then, she has not been seen.

Investigation Developments

Law enforcement officials have confirmed that several individuals have been detained during the course of the investigation. However, Nancy has not yet been located, and authorities have not publicly identified a suspect.

According to reports, the FBI analyzed a glove discovered near her home. Investigators believe it may match gloves worn by a person captured on doorbell camera footage at the residence. While this detail has drawn attention, officials have not confirmed whether the individual seen in the footage has been identified or charged.

Sheriff Chris Nanos of Pima County Sheriff’s Department emphasized that the investigation has explored every plausible avenue.

Family Rumors Addressed

Because Nancy’s son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, was reportedly the last person to see her on January 31, online speculation began circulating regarding his possible involvement. Cioni is married to Savannah Guthrie’s sister, Annie.

Sheriff Nanos moved quickly to shut down those rumors.

He stated that authorities did not want Cioni “wrongly scrutinized just because he was the last person to see Nancy before her disappearance.” Law enforcement sources also indicated that investigators had been “leaning away” from viewing family members as suspects.

On Monday, officials formally clarified their position.

“The Guthrie family – to include all siblings and spouses – has been cleared as possible suspects in this case,” Sheriff Nanos said.

He further emphasized:

“The family has been nothing but cooperative and gracious and are victims in this case. To suggest otherwise is not only wrong, it is cruel. The Guthrie family are victims plain and simple.”

The statement aims to quell speculation and redirect focus toward finding Nancy rather than fueling unfounded allegations.

Reward Increased

In an effort to generate new leads, the FBI has raised the reward for information regarding Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance from $50,000 to $100,000.

Authorities continue to urge anyone with information to come forward, stressing that even small details could prove critical.

A Family Waiting

While the public conversation continues, Nancy’s loved ones remain in an agonizing state of uncertainty. The family has not released extensive public statements but has cooperated fully with investigators.

The case remains active, and officials have not ruled out any investigative angles beyond what has already been clarified.

For now, the focus remains where it belongs: locating Nancy Guthrie safely and bringing clarity to what happened on January 31.

Our thoughts remain with her family as the search continues.
