My Groom Threw Me Into the Pool—Then Dad Ended the Celebration

Dad didn’t yell. He crouched at the edge, reached down, and pulled me from the water with both hands. Then he removed his suit jacket and wrapped it around my shoulders.

He faced Dylan and said, “She’s finished. You are too.”

Dylan’s grin disappeared. He insisted it was only a prank, but Dad guided me inside without arguing. My mother found towels while the hotel manager canceled the reception at our request. Guests left in stunned clusters, and the cake remained untouched.

Dylan stared at the floor. “I thought people would laugh. I thought Claire would calm down.”

“She told you what it would cost,” Dad replied. “You decided she didn’t mean it.”

He terminated Dylan’s employment immediately. It was not revenge, Dad explained. No company could entrust clients to someone who treated a clear promise as optional whenever an audience appeared.
