Following the dissolution of their partnership, Mercury eventually returned to the material on his own. In 1985, he reworked the song and included it as the eighth track on his debut solo album, Mr. Bad Guy.
The story of this collaboration did not end there. Years after the deaths of both Freddie Mercury in 1991 and Michael Jackson in 2009, the original duet was revisited. In 2014, a joint version of the song was finally released as part of the Queen compilation album Queen Forever. Produced and mixed by William Orbit, this version utilized the original 1981 backing track, which featured Brian May on guitar, Roger Taylor on drums, and John Deacon on bass. This release finally provided fans with the opportunity to hear the long-awaited collaboration in its complete, intended, and finished form.
