You won’t believe what happened when this hard rock grandma joined a guitar pro on stage!

Dovydas, a Lithuanian guitarist known for viral live performances, found himself upstaged during a pub appearance by Paula, an elderly guest presented as a hard-rock grandmother. Their performance of Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” attracted over 1.5 million YouTube views during its first two months on the platform.

Before beginning, Dovydas described the track to the pub crowd as one of the best guitar songs ever recorded. Paula stood beside him while he announced that they would attempt a version for 2025. She said she was old enough to remember the original, although she added that she did not remember it.

Often performing in a one-man-band format, Dovydas assembled the accompaniment live through looping technology. His first layer used a portion of the recognizable guitar riff. He then placed a sub-bass synthesizer sound underneath it and introduced a basic drum beat to maintain the pace.

With that foundation in place, Dovydas moved away from a standard interpretation. He improvised new guitar ideas above the loop, reshaping the character of the often-played Led Zeppelin song. The focus shifted when Paula engaged the distortion pedal for her Fender Telecaster and began her first solo, which surpassed Dovydas’ own treatment of the number.
