Brian May and Andrea Bocelli Share A Special Moment in A Spine-Tingling Rendition of this Queen Track

Brian May and Andrea Bocelli performed Queen’s “Who Wants to Live Forever” together in Tuscany during a concert marking Bocelli’s 30th anniversary. The live appearance took place earlier in September 2025, bringing Queen’s guitarist and the Italian opera singer onto the same stage for a collaboration between two performers from markedly different musical traditions.

May opened the vocal performance with his guitar held close to him. His restrained singing filled the stadium before Bocelli assumed the vocal lead, adding the force of his operatic voice to the Queen song. Their respective parts allowed May’s gentler delivery and Bocelli’s more powerful approach to remain distinct within the duet.

Comments posted on the performance’s YouTube video suggested that it had earned the approval of Queen fans, an audience the source describes as famously demanding. One commenter regarded the duet as a suitable interpretation of an emotionally weighty composition. Another believed Freddie Mercury, Queen’s late lead singer, would have appreciated the rendition.

The Tuscany concert was not Queen’s first meeting with a prominent Italian opera performer. In 2003, Luciano Pavarotti joined the group to perform “Too Much Love Will Kill You.” Although associated with Queen through that appearance, the composition had originated as a solo track by May.

Pavarotti, characterized in the source as possibly the best-known opera singer ever, also received a positive response from Queen’s listeners. His performance with the band led some fans to consider how a pairing between him and Mercury might have sounded, even though such a duet did not occur.
