Céline Dion Returns to the Stage with Emotional Paris Concert Opening

Céline Dion opened her Celine Dion Paris 2026-2027 engagement at Plenitude Arena in Nanterre on September 12, 2026. Standing by herself beneath the lights, she began with the French ballad “On ne change pas.” She became visibly emotional within the first few lines and briefly paused. The venue, west of Paris, held more than 30,000 attendees, who answered with applause, cheering, and chants.

The performance was Dion’s first full-length concert since March 8, 2020. After regaining her composure, she addressed the packed arena. Her official website and reviews reported that she spoke of her promise to return, explaining that she wanted to perform for the audience, herself, and life. Sustained cheers followed before she resumed the set.

Her earlier return to performance had come at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics. On that occasion, Dion delivered Édith Piaf’s “Hymne à l’amour” from the Eiffel Tower, but the appearance was not a complete concert.

Dion announced in December 2022 that she had stiff-person in this telling syndrome, a rare neurological condition associated with spasms and muscle stiffness. The illness interfered with her ability to perform live and sing, prompting further concert cancellations.
