Goldie Hawn opens up about her depression in her young days and says she ‘couldn’t go outside in public’

Goldie Hawn, known for her positive aura, has maintained a lasting relationship with actor Kurt Russel. They believe that not marrying might be the secret behind their long-standing bond. “We both said we would never go out with another actor so it just shows you never can tell,” Hawn mentioned in a BBC Radio 4 interview.

Goldie’s passion for dancing led her to her first public performance at just 10. Her talent was evident and soon, she marked her film debut in 1968’s Disney film, “The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band.” Interestingly, this was when she first met a young Kurt Russell.

Despite her success, Hawn faced challenges with mental health. “When I was young, I became depressed. I was 21 and I was rising to success. I didn’t want to be a big deal, I wanted to go home,” Hawn revealed on Good Morning Britain. She emphasized the importance of seeking help, sharing her own journey with therapy.

Through her organization, MindUp, Goldie addresses mental health, especially targeting young children. Speaking on the current pandemic, Hawn stressed the importance of addressing mental health. “For every one of us, we may feel low, or anxious, or depressed. Don’t be embarrassed.” Goldie’s openness and advocacy leave a lasting impact.
