Simon Cowell’s unusual behavior on AGT: Why is the judge not speaking throughout Season 18?

Simon Cowell, known for his sharp wit, surprised viewers with his subdued presence during season 18 of AGT. Instead of his usual candid comments, the 63-year-old remained unusually quiet as co-stars Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara, and Howie Mandel discussed auditions. However, his silence wasn’t due to a lack of interest.

Simon’s limited speaking during season 18 was attributed to a medical issue he revealed in a USA Today interview. He explained that stomach acid had caused severe damage to his vocal cords. A doctor examined him using a camera through his nose and throat, revealing the extent of the damage.

Unable to speak for about a week during auditions, Simon had a fresh perspective. He observed that the other judges had developed stronger preferences, leading to more disagreements, albeit in a constructive way.

Simon, who has faced several health challenges recently, reflected on how two bike accidents impacted his life, acknowledging that he was out of shape before the incidents. Despite the setbacks, he expressed his determination to continue biking, much to the delight of his co-stars.
