Donald Trump’s brutal 3-word response to Greta Thunberg after she claimed she was kidnapped by Israel

Donald Trump has once again sparked controversy with his sharp remarks about climate activist Greta Thunberg, amid her recent detainment by Israeli forces.

The international incident began Monday, following Thunberg’s claim of being “kidnapped” by Israeli military personnel while aboard a humanitarian aid vessel heading toward Gaza. The boat, operated by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC), was intercepted in international waters, subsequently escorted to an Israeli port—triggering widespread global condemnation and heated online discussions.

In a prerecorded statement shared by the coalition, Thunberg calmly asserted:

“If you see this video, we have been intercepted and kidnapped in international waters by the Israeli occupational forces, or forces that support Israel.”

Israel’s Foreign Ministry later confirmed its military had boarded the boat, citing the nation’s long-standing naval blockade of Gaza as justification.

Amid the international uproar, President Trump weighed in with characteristic bluntness during a press briefing on June 10. When reporters asked if Trump had spoken to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about Thunberg’s situation, he didn’t mince words:

“Well, [Thunberg is] a strange person. She’s a young, angry person. I don’t know if it’s real anger; it’s hard to believe, actually. But I saw what happened. She’s certainly different. Anger management. I think she has to go to an angry management class. That’s my primary recommendation for her.”

Trump seemed particularly dismissive when discussing Thunberg’s claims of kidnapping:

“I find it—I think Israel has enough problems without kidnapping Greta Thunberg,” Trump stated, visibly incredulous. “Is that what she said? She was kidnapped by Israel?” Upon a reporter’s confirmation, Trump simply shook his head and scoffed, leaving little doubt about his skepticism.

The Freedom Flotilla Coalition criticized Israel’s seizure of the civilian vessel, arguing that the action breached international law. Activists accused Israeli forces of confiscating vital humanitarian supplies, including food, medical kits, and baby formula.

Israeli authorities maintain the naval blockade, initially implemented following Hamas’s takeover of Gaza in 2007, intensified further after the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack. That incident resulted in over 1,200 fatalities and the taking of hundreds of hostages, leading to a tightening of restrictions and compounding Gaza’s humanitarian crisis. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry figures cited by the Associated Press, more than 54,000 people have reportedly died in the enclave since then.

Alongside Thunberg, the detained vessel carried several notable individuals, including European Parliament member Rima Hassan, journalist Yanis Mhamdi, Al Jazeera presenter Omar Faiad, and FFC organizers Yasemin Acar and Thiago Ávila. Israeli authorities have now moved the group to a Tel Aviv airport, preparing their deportation, according to The Guardian.

The incident, predictably, has ignited intense international debate, prompting passionate statements from both sides. Israel’s Foreign Ministry took a dismissive tone on social media, stating:

“All the passengers of the ‘selfie yacht’ are safe and unharmed. They were provided with sandwiches and water. The show is over.”

In response, Thunberg shared a poignant message on Instagram:

“I’m here because the world cannot be silent bystanders when there is a livestream genocide going on. Everyone who has the opportunity to do something has a moral duty to do so. So that’s why we have to keep trying to stand in solidarity with you.”
