Debra Byrd, 72, passed away at her Los Angeles home on Tuesday. Known for her roles as a vocal coach on hit shows like “The Voice” and “American Idol,” her cause of death is still unknown.

Tributes poured in from celebrities, including longtime friend Barry Manilow, who shared his grief on social media, saying, “I’ve never been so sad in my life today.”

Jennifer Hudson, who worked with Debra, expressed her condolences on X, noting, “She gave us hope and support. She will be missed, but her legacy lives on.”

Debra’s career spanned decades, from backup singing for Barry Manilow to coaching on “American Idol” and “The Voice.” She also worked with Bob Dylan, Stevie Nicks, and Tom Petty.

Her impact extended to film and academia, as she chaired the vocal department at the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles. Her legacy remains through the countless artists she mentored and inspired.
