Trump’s alarming warning after abrupt G7 exit

Donald Trump’s early departure from the G7 summit in Canada on Monday (June 16) has ignited international speculation, especially after he posted a cryptic and alarming message about Iran just hours later.

His exit came amid an already volatile backdrop: a sharp escalation in violence between Israel and Iran, which began days earlier when Israeli forces launched targeted strikes on Iranian nuclear and military facilities. Iran responded with missile attacks on Tel Aviv, pushing the long-standing enemies closer to full-scale conflict. Many expected this crisis to dominate conversations among G7 leaders, who gathered to address the world’s most urgent political and economic challenges. But Trump’s sudden disappearance from the summit, and the rhetoric that followed, has only deepened global anxiety over what comes next.

Shortly after leaving, Trump took to Truth Social and delivered a clear, forceful message:

“Iran should have signed the ‘deal’ I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life. Simply stated, IRAN CANNOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I said it over and over again! Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!”

The tone of his message—combining frustration, urgency, and a direct warning—sent shockwaves through diplomatic circles. Trump’s statement appeared to reference the ongoing efforts to renegotiate the nuclear agreement with Iran, originally forged between Tehran and the P5+1 nations (the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Russia, and China). Despite long-standing pressure, Iran has refused to accept the terms Trump reportedly demanded during his presidency and beyond.

What makes this moment even more confusing is the contradictory messaging coming from world leaders. French President Emmanuel Macron told reporters that Trump had left early in an effort to broker a ceasefire between Israel and Iran. However, Trump quickly denied that account, issuing another sharply worded post:

“Publicity-seeking President Emmanuel Macron, of France, mistakenly said that I left the G7 Summit, in Canada, to go back to D.C. to work on a ‘cease fire’ between Israel and Iran. Wrong! He has no idea why I am now on my way to Washington, but it certainly has nothing to do with a Cease Fire. Much bigger than that. Whether purposely or not, Emmanuel always gets it wrong. Stay tuned!”

The phrase “much bigger than that” has since become the subject of intense scrutiny. Analysts, journalists, and foreign policy experts are now dissecting every word for clues. Was Trump referring to a possible preemptive strike? A diplomatic shift? Or something else entirely?

At the White House, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt tried to contain the fallout, emphasizing that Trump had achieved key goals during his time at the summit. In a statement, she wrote:

“Much was accomplished, but because of what’s going on in the Middle East, President Trump will be leaving tonight after dinner with Heads of State.”

Yet despite the reassurance, the timing of Trump’s departure and his escalating language about Iran have left the international community uneasy. The suggestion to “evacuate Tehran” felt especially dire, even for Trump’s typically unfiltered style.

The Iran-Israel conflict has always loomed as a potential flashpoint in Middle Eastern geopolitics, but the recent attacks and counterattacks have opened up the possibility of direct war. Now, with the U.S. president issuing ambiguous but urgent warnings, the pressure is only rising. Without more clarity from Washington, speculation will continue to swirl, and with it, growing fears of a major confrontation on the horizon.

One thing is certain: whatever Trump is preparing for, the world is watching—and waiting.
