Barack and Michelle Obama address divorce rumors in a joint statement – Details

Michelle and Barack Obama are correcting the record. once more regarding their marital status. And they’re doing it this time with their trademark blend of lighthearted humor and candor.

I believe that in a recent episode of Michelle’s podcast, the former president and first lady directly addressed the ongoing divorce rumors. Following Michelle’s teasing of a “very, very, very special guest,” Barack, 63, made a kind appearance on television.

Their laid-back dynamic was evident right away. Craig Robinson, Michelle’s brother and cohost, snapped:

“Wait—you two genuinely like one another?”

Joking, Barack took advantage of the chance to embrace the moment:

“She brought me back! For a while, it was touch and go.

Michelle sighed and dismissed the rumors, but she was clear about her position:

People assume we are divorced when we aren’t [in the same room], but I firmly add, “There hasn’t been a single moment in our marriage where I have thought about quitting my man.”

A Marriage of Growth and Adventure

Michelle thought back on their 33-year marriage, sharing the happy moments as well as the difficult ones:

“The man I’m married to has made me a better person and we’ve had a lot of fun times and adventures together.”

During the moment, Barack appeared visibly moved. Malia, 27, and Sasha, 24, are the couple’s two daughters; they were married in October 1992. Another quiet but significant aspect of their family life is Barack’s role as a “engaged” father, which Michelle also praised.

No drama, no social media

Michelle clarified that their current lower public profile probably contributes to some of the conjecture:

“You guys, we’re sixty. You simply won’t be aware of our activities throughout the day.

Some reported that Barack attended public events earlier this year, such as President Trump’s inauguration and the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter, without Michelle.

However, rather than maintaining constant visibility, the Obamas have continued to express their quiet solidarity by posting birthday and holiday greetings online.

In Michelle’s words:

“We’re not breaking up just because we’re not flaunting our love on social media.”

Remaining Firm—With a Grin

Robinson revealed in the IMO episode that because of his podcast appearances, he is now frequently asked in public about his sister’s marriage. Michelle thought the story was funny and showed how much people care about their relationship.

More than anything else, the conjecture seemed perplexing to Barack:

He dismissed the rumors and remarked, “These are the kinds of things I just miss.”

The Obamas’ message is ultimately very clear: Their relationship is still as strong as ever, with honesty, laughter, and a strong sense of partnership at its forefront.
