Heart’s Ann Wilson stuns fans at 73 years young with the glorious power of her voice on poignant acoustic rendition of Led Zeppelin classic “Going to California”

Heart had previously delivered another prominent Led Zeppelin cover at the 2012 Kennedy Center Honors. With the surviving members of Led Zeppelin present in the audience, the band played “Stairway to Heaven,” and Robert Plant was visibly moved to tears.

Jason Bonham, whose father was Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, played drums during the Kennedy Center performance. He also acknowledged the Led Zeppelin members in attendance, creating another memorable moment in the tribute.

On Led Zeppelin’s untitled fourth studio album, “Going to California” appears as the seventh track. Jimmy Page and Robert Plant wrote the song, while Page additionally served as its producer. Bassist John Paul Jones contributed mandolin to its folk arrangement.

For the studio recording, Page used double drop D tuning, with the strings tuned D-A-D-G-B-D. Plant, described as a particularly severe critic of his own writing, later addressed the song in an interview with Spin. He acknowledged that its lyrics could sometimes be embarrassing, but said they captured a period from his life.
