After forgetting her wallet, Anna rushed back apartment—only to stumble upon something that would permanently alter her attitude toward her husband

Anna breathed a deep sigh. Her husband had been particularly grumpy lately, but she decided to ignore it rather than start a quarrel.

Anna had never been one for conflict; she always favored harmony and frequently gave in to maintain order.

Keeping her emotions to herself, she left for the store.

However, she abruptly realized she had left her wallet at the register. She raked her fingers through her hair and attempted to call her husband in frustration. No response.

She quickly headed home after apologizing to the cashier and asking them to hold her basket.

She was about to enter the apartment when she froze as she got closer to the door. She could hear Boris, her husband, on the phone.

“Yeah,” he said, “I’ve worked everything out.” “The apartment is nearly being moved. All I have to do is send the money.

Anna’s heart fell. Which apartment? How much money? What was he doing?

“Yes, there is a certain amount of risk,” Boris went on, “but what can she do? She has no suspicions at all. She always gives in and is quiet.

She felt those words stab her like a knife. Was this his opinion of her after all these years of devotion?

While Anna listened to Boris plot about a future without her, she stood still, heartbroken.
She jerked out of her reverie as the call came to an end and automatically retreated from the door, hiding around the corner.

Boris emerged a few moments later. As he went down the hall, he failed to notice her. After he was gone, Anna slipped away in silence. She required time. and responses.

When she called her friend Irina, she knew right away that something was amiss. Anna filled her in on everything.

On the way home, Anna, still shaken, opened her banking app. The balance in the joint account had decreased. He was actually stealing.

“Well,” she muttered, “he has a game if he wants one.”

Boris was impatient as ever at home.

“Where have you been?” He lost his temper. “All day long, I’ve been starving!”

Anna remained silent. She remained composed. Before acting, she needed to learn more.

She started her own covert investigation after calling in sick the following day. She examined Boris’s computer and went through his papers.

Her worst fears were validated when she discovered messages between him and a lawyer talking about a divorce and how to divide their assets.

She snapped pictures of everything. Then she contacted her own attorney.
She transferred some of their joint savings and opened a different bank account. She asked her parents for help as well.

Anna wasn’t finished, though. She needed to make one more move.

As usual, she prepared the dinner table that night. She set a folder in front of Boris as he sat down.

She smiled coldly and declared, “I’m filing for divorce.”

“Don’t even try to deny it. Your phone call was heard by me. I noticed the messages. Did you think you could outsmart me? Rethink your thinking.

Boris sat motionless, utterly dumbfounded. Anna went on:

“I’ve come to terms with it. I didn’t anticipate it. Life has a way of making things better, even though you spent so much time setting me up.

Boris went white. Anna had already tuned out the yelling, the accusations, and the insults that followed.

After a while, he packed up and departed.

His attempt to transfer the property was declared unlawful by the court.
They divided their assets equally. Boris made several unsuccessful attempts to resist it.

As time went on, Anna gradually started to recover. She even attended her first social gathering in months—a friend’s birthday.

She made a new acquaintance there. He was sincere, kind, and totally different from Boris.

She gave it a shot even though she hadn’t anticipated falling in love again. And her life was changed by that decision.

Anna made a fresh start this time, creating a life full of trust, love, and genuine happiness.
