Donald Trump slammed for “psychotic” statement on G7 exit

Trump Abruptly Exits G7 Summit, Sparks Outrage Over Cryptic Iran Warning

Donald Trump is once again facing intense scrutiny after cutting his G7 summit appearance short and issuing an ominous message about Iran that critics have described as “psychopathic.”

The summit, which brings together leaders from the US, UK, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, and Japan to discuss global economic and security issues, took place in Canada this year. Trump, however, left the gathering unexpectedly on Monday, June 16—well before its scheduled conclusion.

According to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, Trump’s early departure was related to escalating conflict in the Middle East. She posted on X:

“Much was accomplished, but because of what’s going on in the Middle East, President Trump will be leaving tonight after dinner.”

Trump himself told reporters that he had informed Canadian Prime Minister and G7 host Mark Carney of his plans to leave, insisting that the group would “understand.”

“I wish I could stay until tomorrow, but they understand, this is big stuff,”

he said, as reported by *The Guardian*.
However, his early exit meant he missed the G7’s unified appeal for de-escalation in the Middle East, including a call for a ceasefire in Gaza. While Trump did sign the official communique, his personal statements painted a far more volatile picture.

Shortly after leaving, Trump posted an alarming message on Truth Social, urging civilians in Tehran to evacuate as Israeli airstrikes intensified in Iran. The strikes, which began days earlier, have reportedly targeted Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure.

The backlash grew louder when Trump publicly took aim at French President Emmanuel Macron, disputing Macron’s claim that Trump left to work on ceasefire efforts.

“Publicity-seeking President Emmanuel Macron, of France, mistakenly said that I left the G7 Summit, in Canada, to go back to D.C. to work on a ‘cease fire’ between Israel and Iran. Wrong!”

“He has no idea why I am now on my way to Washington, but it certainly has nothing to do with a Cease Fire. Much bigger than that. Whether purposely or not, Emmanuel always gets it wrong. Stay Tuned!”

Critics were quick to condemn the remarks, with many calling his tone “unhinged,” “embarrassing,” and “dangerously reckless.” One online commenter referenced Trump’s previous advocacy for Russia’s reinstatement in the G8:

“Insulting our allies again, after whining they won’t let Putin back into the G8.”

Others questioned what could possibly be “bigger” than halting a potential war. Just before departing the summit, Trump hinted at major developments, telling reporters:

“Iran wants to make a deal. And as soon as I leave here, we’re going to be doing something. But I have to leave here.”

Despite the vague insinuation of negotiations, no tangible agreement has emerged. Instead, Trump escalated tensions further in a follow-up Truth Social post:

“Iran should have signed the ‘deal’ I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life. Simply stated, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I said it over and over again! Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!”

International analysts are now questioning whether Trump’s statements are contributing to instability rather than offering any meaningful diplomatic pathway. While the U.S. is not officially involved in Israel’s current military campaign, Trump’s rhetoric is raising concern that behind-the-scenes involvement may be deeper than acknowledged.

As the situation in the Middle East remains volatile, Trump’s actions at the G7—and his growing feud with allies like Macron—continue to draw fierce criticism both at home and abroad.
