Amy Lee’s spellbinding orchestral rendition of “My Immortal” stuns Evanescence fans

Since its debut in 2003, the gothic rock ballad “My Immortal” has remained a foundational piece of the Evanescence catalog, serving as a signature track for the band. However, the song reached an entirely new level of emotional resonance and critical appreciation during the band’s ambitious 2017 Synthesis Live tour. During this extensive series of concerts, frontwoman Amy Lee delivered a performance of the track that many longtime followers and new listeners alike consider to be among the most captivating and hypnotic moments in the group’s entire professional history.

The Synthesis Live tour represented a significant artistic milestone for Evanescence, as it marked the very first time the ensemble invited a full-blown orchestra to accompany them on the road. This symphonic collaboration fundamentally transformed the band’s established sound, creating a lush, dark, and cinematic atmosphere that provided a sophisticated backdrop for their most beloved hits. A high-quality recording of this specific performance has since garnered immense attention across digital platforms, accumulating over 6.3 million views on YouTube to date.

The orchestral arrangement allows the instrumentation to command the song’s moody, atmospheric progression, utilizing the delicate and glassy tones of a grand piano to build tension. When Amy Lee, who was 35 years old at the time of the performance, begins to sing, her vocal delivery cuts through the dense orchestral texture with striking clarity and power. Her performance is characterized by an operatic quality and a profound, majestic emotional depth that has resonated deeply with listeners who were present and those who discovered the clip later.
