Jim Jordan Pours Cold Water On Campaign Retribution Promises

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) brushed aside worries that Donald Trump, the president-elect, would exact revenge on his rivals.

Jordan and host Dana Bash got into a heated argument during Jordan’s appearance on CNN’s State of the Union because of Trump’s campaign rhetoric that promised to be his supporters’ “retribution.”

According to Jordan, “people talk about retribution; the retribution has been from the other side.” “For the past ten years, I have been working to prevent retaliation.”

Bash started to cut in, stating that she would address that but that her inquiry concerned Trump’s promises to implement “retribution.” She questioned whether he would be in favor of Trump prosecuting alleged enemies through the Justice Department.

Bash started to cut in, stating that she would address that but that her inquiry concerned Trump’s promises to implement “retribution.” She questioned whether he would be in favor of Trump prosecuting alleged enemies through the Justice Department.

When asked if Trump’s “retribution” would occur, he responded, “I don’t think any of that’s going to happen, because we’re the party that’s against political prosecution.” “We are the party that opposes using law enforcement to target your opponents.”

Then, the two couldn’t agree on whether Trump’s team was in favor of free speech. When Bash asked Jordan which illegal immigrants would be deported, a similarly heated discussion about immigration ensued.

President Joe Biden, former President Barack Obama, former Representative Liz Cheney, former Chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Senator-elect Adam Schiff (D-CA), Vice President Kamala Harris, and others were all targets of Trump’s repeated promises during his campaign to exact “retribution” on his supporters.

Much of this, according to Trump and his supporters, is retaliation for his own prosecution, which they claim was motivated by politics.
