’60s icons The Temptations prove that great music never goes out of style with viral medley on The View, so get ready for a feelgood singalong on “My Girl”

The Temptations brought songs from their long career to The View on December 18, 2024. Appearing during an American tour, the five-piece group was headed by founder Otis Williams, with longtime members Ron Tyson and Terry Weeks helping form the lineup. Williams, then 83 and standing second from the left, also contributed his well-known croon to the performance.

For their medley, the group began with “Get Ready” before moving into “My Girl.” Their harmonies and chemistry were central to the performance, which found a substantial audience online: the video accumulated more than two million views. That response came 63 years after The Temptations were founded in 1961.

Comments posted by fans reflected enthusiasm for seeing the veteran group revisit its catalog. One viewer said the appearance demonstrated why The Temptations were legendary. Another connected the performance to the music they had heard growing up and wrote that they continued to enjoy the group in 2024.

The View appearance followed a much earlier television medley from The Temptations’ period of major commercial success. On May 28, 1967, the group performed on The Ed Sullivan Show with the lineup known as the Classic Five. That broadcast featured four of their hits and presented the singers in particularly strong vocal form.
