10 Year Old Ice Dancer Stuns With Breathtaking Performance To Alexandra Burke’s “Hallelujah”

Figure skating asks competitors to combine difficult technical skills with expression. Programs require command of steps, jumps, spins and other elements, yet accomplished skaters can make their movement across the ice seem effortless. Veronika Zhilina displayed those qualities in a performance set to Alexandra Burke’s version of “Hallelujah.” The routine spread widely online, and Zhilina was only 10 when she performed it.

Born in Arkhangelsk, Russia, on May 15, 2008, her full name is Veronika Vladislavovna Zhilina. She began learning at age three under the guidance of her mother, Ludmilla. Veronika quickly demonstrated an aptitude for skating, and her younger sister, Alena, later began training with them. The sisters embraced the intensive work needed to pursue the sport because both were passionate about it.

Veronika and Alena trained in Arkhangelsk until 2018. That year, they moved to Moscow and worked with Russian figure-skating coaches Eteri Tutberidze, Sergei Dudakov and Sergei Rozanov. Veronika’s first major successes mentioned in the account came shortly after that relocation.

In 2019, Veronika entered the junior category at the Russian Younger Age Championships and finished as the winner. She competed at the event again the following year and successfully retained her championship, establishing that her first victory was not an isolated result.
